Modern slavery is a blight on the human conscience. Even as the world progresses, 40.3 million people are trapped in inhumane working conditions deep within the tangled web of global supply chains to produce the smartphones we use and the food we eat.
Not only is modern slavery immoral, it’s increasingly a business risk. And if the world is to eradicate forced labour by 2030 as set out Target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals, then there must be a concerted effort to ensure equality and fair work for all. How can businesses eliminate human rights abuses in their supply chains, and prevent the conditions that drive individuals into slavery?
This 10 October, join us at “Mission 8.7: Fair work in a generation” to hear from experts on cutting out slavery from supply chains and how businesses can engage with communities to prevent enslavement.
