Managing Sustainable Engineering Development is the integration of social, environmental, and economic considerations in the design of products, processes, and engineered systems. This talk introduces the concept of sustainability - both theory and applications to engineers and designers. The audience will be exposed to some tools to perform environmental impact assessment, life-cycle cost and benefits analyses, which provide decision guidance on the design, maintenance, and operations of products and systems. At the end of the talk, participants will be able to get some idea on grand societal challenges in energy and environment, the role of technology, economics and policy in addressing these challenges and evaluate the environmental impact of products, processes, services and systems. Beside develop and apply life cycle and systems thinking methods to design a sustainable engineering program during-COVID-19.
