This 1-day interactive workshop will focus on how Asian companies can understand and apply the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in practice. Real-world case studies and practical exercises will be used to explore the realities of conducting and implementing actionable human rights impact assessments (HRIAs).The meeting is convened in support of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 70 campaign to engage a broad base of audiences the world over; to help promote understanding of how the Universal Declaration empowers us all; and to encourage further reflection on the ways that each of us can stand up for rights, every day. The workshop builds on Microsoft’s series of global meetings to mark the 70th anniversary of the UDHR, as well as BSR’s and Microsoft’s experiences in conducting and implementing HRIAs across products, services, industries and locations.
The 1-day course will focus on:
- Human rights impacts arising from business activities across Asia, including in low-, middle- and high-income countries, and across sectors including manufacturing, natural resources and services.
- Barriers and solutions to integrating HRIA finding and recommendations into company processes and risk management, such as operations, business development, policy, and legal affairs.
