Environmental defenders have held a vital role in peacefully ensuring the protection of our natural resources. However, government and society have sometimes failed to afford them due protection, and they are increasingly faced with danger for their work. Organized by the Asian Research Institute for Environmental Law (ARIEL) and the Asia Pacific Network of Environment Defenders (APNED) with the support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), LAWASIA and Earthrights International, this webinar aims to gather concerned stakeholders to discuss challenges and ways forward for the protection of the rights of environmental defenders. The event is intended to be a platform to build action for the protection of environmental defenders across the region.
