Many organisations are starting to think about ways and means to manage their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as a responsible organisation for a number of reasons: to display leadership on climate change, minimise their impact on the planet, prepare for regulations and address evolving disclosure requirements, increase resource efficiency or to build their profile as an environmentally conscious organisation.
Understanding climate change science and building an inventory of your sources and emissions (carbon footprint) are the essential initial steps to formulating a strategy, assessing risks, reducing emissions, tracking and reporting performance. This programme will cover the basics of climate change science and GHG accounting for organisations.
The GHG accounting course materials are based on the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol Corporate Standard with reference to the ISO 14064: Part 1 International Standard for greenhouse gas inventories.
